PROFILE
Education:
Minimum of a Bachelors degree preferably in Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or Decision Sciences. Relevant credit management experience acceptable
Experience:
2-5+ years of experience in a quantitative capacity in a project- and teamwork- oriented environment. Good knowledge of credit risk management concepts, principles and practices in a high volume unsecured consumer credit environment. Good quantitative analysis skills with the ability to communicate complex data to line management and senior executives. Proven ability to manage the delivery of multiple projects effectively. Experience of project management and demonstrable experience of delivering results.
Skills:
Must have a working knowledge of SAS, SPSS, Minitab or comparable analytical software. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required. Experience with SQL or some other relational database language is helpful. Knowledge of analytical methods such as descriptive statistics, logistic and linear regression, experimental design, and decision tree methods (CHAID, C&RT). Clear understanding of financial and managerial accounting concepts. Ability to work with (and in) cross functional teams. Ability to present frequent analyses in a clear and concise manner through written and verbal communication.
JOB FUNCTION:
Design credit risk and collections strategies to improve profitability, customer turnover, and cross-product usage. Assist in development of quantitative model(s) involving risk, profitability, loss forecasts, and collections. Develop loan origination strategies, pricing, line management and collections tactics. Analyze customer characteristics to anticipate the need for model redevelopment. Play a key role in strategy implementation as liaison between the analytical group and line of business decision makers. Report on the performance of new strategies. Provide ad hoc analytical support to line of business decision makers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Support
Monitor and analyze performance of current credit and collections strategies.
Identify risk segments within lines of business where current strategy appears to underperform.
Assist credit analytics group in creation and proposal of new strategies.
Provide guidance & support for test strategy implementation with other parts of the Company: e.g. Planning and Analysis, Marketing, In-store Training.
Track new strategy performance against control sets.
Risk Analytics
Track and report trends in through the door population and customer risk characteristics.
Develop, update and maintain custom scorecards and risk prioritization models involving logistic regression, CHAID analysis and other statistical techniques
Validation, stress testing and documentation of risk models and assumptions.
Identify and implement opportunities for greater efficiencies, risk controls, and profitability for the respective portfolios.
General Responsibilities
Support overall risk management goals within Consumer Lending.
Identify areas within the scope of responsibilities where efficiency gains can be achieved through task automation.
